Back in Chaves for some errands, I wanted to take the opportunity to collect some material for Terra Callaeci. Unfortunately they were setting up something near the Roman bridge for an event, which made it impossible to take pictures without things spoiling the view. And as if that wasn't enough to affect the mood, the Roman Baths pools were without water (meh).
The day was saved by the Burguesia restaurant, which I already knew by name but had not yet visited. The space next to the Roman bridge is modern but unpretentious, and the staff friendly. I ordered a "Caco burguês" with certified Barroso beef - by the way, the image of the Carne Barrosã PDO was developed by me #thingsthatmatter - Cheddar cheese, bacon, mushrooms, rocket, cherry tomato, red onion and mustard and honey sauce. It was great. For dessert I ordered a caramel fondant with chocolate crumble and red fruit ice cream which was also very good (particularly the caramel fondant). To be repeated.
