Mines of Brejo

Mines Route of the Terva Valley Archaeological Park

In an area of approximately 12 hectares, which extends from the vicinity of the village of Bobadela to the Hillfort of Brejo, numerous trenches and open-cast excavation cuts can be identified, with diverse orientations, lengths and widths, and the remains of galleries can be seen on the side slopes.

In the vicinity of the old Forestry House is the so-called Lagoa do Brejo (Brejo Lagoon), corresponding to an old and large mining cut.

Outside the exploration area, but in its direct area of influence, in the far west, is the fortified settlement of Brejo, which may correspond to a hillfort mining settlement.
