With links to vineyards and wine stretching back several generations, Casa Sousa 1792 preserves a living historical heritage. The wines Vinho dos Mortos (Wine of the Dead) and Alegria dos Vivos (Joy of the Living) are today the finest expression of this legacy, offering a unique wine tourism experience in Boticas.
The legendary Vinho dos Mortos stands as a testament to the resistance and resilience of the people of Boticas during the second French invasion of Portugal. Complementing this heritage is the Alegria dos Vivos, created in honour of Armindo de Sousa Pereira (Mindo), who gave new life to the family tradition and immortalised the phrase: "The Vinho dos Mortos brings joy to the living".

At Loja 1792, situated in the centre of Boticas, visitors can learn about the history of Vinho dos Mortos, sample the house wines and discover a legacy spanning more than two centuries.

For those wishing to extend their stay, Casa Sousa 1792 also offers two fully equipped one-bedroom duplex flats, situated on the upper floors of the shop. The prime location provides easy walking access to the town’s main attractions, making them an excellent choice for a short break or for exploring Boticas at a more leisurely pace.
