Roman bridge of Peirezes

Montalegre

The available information suggests that the small single arch granite bridge over the Rabagão river, located near the village of Peirezes, in the municipality of Montalegre, has Roman origins and would have been part of - or a variant of - the Roman Road XVII. Terra Callaeci was unable to confirm this information from the usual sources.

Whether or not it has Roman origins, the bridge and the walking trail, about 900 metres from the village of Peirezes, are definitely worth a visit. Both for the natural beauty of the place and for the tranquillity that invites contemplation and relaxation.
