Olhar do Guerreiro (The Warrior's View)

Barroso World Agricultural Heritage viewpoints (Boticas)

In Alto do Castro, there is a visual dominance of the entire agricultural valley of Covas do Barroso. The parish, the fourth largest in the municipality, occupying a total area of 29.6 km2, is composed of Covas do Barroso, the seat of the parish, Romainho and Muro. The three villages are located in the valley, protected to the north by the Serra da Sombra and south by the Serra do Pinheiro.

Its geographical location, surrounded by mountains, is the reason for its name, as it looks like a "pit" from a distance.

In Alto do Castro, there is a group of rocks where the remains of a castle have been found.

The viewpoint is part of the GIAHS Observatory Network.

The Olhar do Guerreiro viewpoint is part of the The GIAHS Observatory Network - Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, implemented in the Barroso region in the municipalities of Boticas and Montalegre.
