Two iconic spaces in the municipality of Boticas have recently been awarded a plaque of recognition by the Barrosã Beef Gastronomic Society.

The Abstrato restaurant, part of the Boticas Hotel Art & Spa, received the award during the book launch of Barrosã: Do Focinho ao Rabo, by chef Nuno Diniz — a creation that celebrates the versatility and full potential of this meat. The award recognises Abstrato’s contribution to promoting local produce and its ability to reinterpret the local PDO meat through contemporary dishes that elevate the traditions of Boticas.

Also the Rio Beça restaurant has received similar recognition. Renowned for its traditional cuisine, featuring standout dishes such as veal cutlets, Barroso-style stew and other regional specialities, the restaurant has thus seen its ongoing commitment to quality and the preservation of the Barroso region’s culinary identity vindicated.

This initiative reflects the joint efforts of local organisations and the Confraria to preserve Boticas’ culinary heritage and promote Carne Barrosã, a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product recognised as one of the most prestigious in Portugal.
