Chaves opens open-air thermal water pools

Chaves

The Termas de Chaves have opened the new Aquae Salutem Thermal Complex to the public, a space designed to offer a complete relaxation and health experience. Among the main attractions are the naturally warm open-air hydrodynamic pools, the sensory showers, which combine thermal oscillations and sound effects, as well as the sauna and Turkish bath. The space has capacity for 104 people.

The project, partly funded by NORTE 2020 through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aims to strengthen Chaves' attractiveness as a health and wellness destination, boosting thermal tourism and energising strategic sectors such as hotels, restaurants and local businesses.

The Termas de Chaves are famous for their thermal waters, the hottest in the Iberian Peninsula, sprouting at 76ºC, rich in bicarbonates and minerals, and with recognised therapeutic properties in the treatment of musculoskeletal, digestive and respiratory pathologies.
