On the Leiranco ridge, other than an overwhelming landscape with never-ending horizons, one can observe rare and protected floristic species, and some Iberian endemism with great conservation interest in Portugal, as for example the grassy Festuca elegans and the Echinospartum ibericum, the Eryngium duriaei subspecies Juresianum, the Festuca summilusitana and the wild clove (Dianthus langeanus).
In terms of fauna, the top of the Leiranco performs a mountainous biotope with several resident species, as the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and the rock bunting (Emberiza cia). Summer species include the northern wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe) and the common rock thrush (Monticola saxatilis). The latter is listed as endangered species in the Portuguese Vertebrate Red List.
