The Rota das Levadas has a total length of 13.3 kilometres and is circular, starting and finishing at Boticas Parque - Nature and Biodiversity. The route begins by following the left bank of the River Beça and after crossing it, follows the right bank where it crosses cultivated land on the alluvial plain. It heads towards the village of Carvalhelhos, known for its mineral and thermal waters from the Serra do Barroso, which eliminate toxic elements and are beneficial for the skin, digestive system, kidneys, allergies, rheumatism and hypertension. After passing the Amores spring, the route continues to the hillfort of Carvalhelhos, also known as the " Castelo dos Mouros" (Moorish Castle), classified as a Property of Public Interest. It is a fortified settlement in a good state of preservation that was occupied throughout the Iron Age, the Roman period and the Suevo-Visigothic era.

The route then passes by the Chapel of the Senhor dos Milagres Sanctuary and returns to follow the right bank of the River Beça until it reaches Boticas Parque - Nature and Biodiversity.
