On the Leiranco ridge, other than an overwhelming landscape with never-ending horizons, one can observe rare and protected floristic species, and some Iberian endemism with great conservation interest in Portugal, as for example the grassy Festuca elegans<\/em> and the Echinospartum ibericum<\/em>, the Eryngium duriaei<\/em> subspecies Juresianum<\/em>, the Festuca summilusitana<\/em> and the wild clove (Dianthus langeanus<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of fauna, the top of the Leiranco performs a mountainous biotope with several resident species, as the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus<\/em>) and the rock bunting (Emberiza cia<\/em>). Summer species include the northern wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe<\/em>) and the common rock thrush (Monticola saxatilis<\/em>). The latter is listed as endangered species in the Portuguese Vertebrate Red List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
